Nestled in the northeast of Brazil, Jericoacoara (or simply "Jeri") is a kitesurfing paradise famous for its consistent winds and breathtaking lagoons. Once a small fishing village, it has evolved into a must-visit destination for kiters while maintaining its laid-back charm and environmental protection.
Jericoacoara benefits from the reliable trade winds that blow from the east, providing consistent side-shore conditions with average speeds of 15-25 knots during the peak season. The wind typically picks up around mid-morning and maintains strength throughout the day, offering perfect conditions for riders of all levels.
The village of Jericoacoara is situated within a national park, accessible only by 4x4 vehicles. Plan your transportation in advance, and don't miss the famous sunset at Duna do Pôr do Sol (Sunset Dune). The local cuisine features fresh seafood and açaí bowls, perfect for refueling after a day on the water.
Located on a 40km peninsula in southern Morocco, Dakhla is a unique kitesurfing destination where the desert meets the ocean. This remote spot offers an extraordinary combination of flat-water lagoon and ocean wave riding, making it suitable for all disciplines and skill levels.
Dakhla enjoys consistent trade winds throughout most of the year, with thermal enhancement creating reliable 15-30 knot conditions. The wind direction is predominantly northerly, providing cross-shore conditions at most spots. The best months are April to September when wind reliability exceeds 90%.
Dakhla is remote and accommodation options are primarily kite camps and eco-lodges along the lagoon. The Moroccan-Saharan culture offers a unique experience, with delicious tagines and mint tea. Bring sun protection as the desert sun can be intense, and a wetsuit (3/2mm) is recommended even in summer as water temperatures can be cooler than expected.
